Bob Bates is an American computer games designer.
His number 1 promulgated back designs were them text adventures Sherlock: The Riddle of the Crown Jewels and Arthur: The Quest for Excalibur for Infocom. The third game was never finished because Infocom was closed within 1989. Before long fallowing a prevent of Infocom, Bates & Mike Verdu founded Legend Entertainment to produce games in the Infocom tradition. Games designed by Bates for Legend include: Timequest, the Gateway series, Eric the Unready, Companions of Xanth, ''Callahan's Crosstime Saloon'' and the company's final game Unreal II: The Awakening.
